Create a sample

MindBridge streamlines the sampling process by allowing you to create risk-stratified and random samples from the Data table dashboard. Samples are automatically added to the Audit Plan as tasks that you can review and follow up on with your team. Learn how MindBridge generates samples

Learn how to create samples for your Audit Plan below.

Note: You must have run a successful analysis before you can create samples.

Go to the Data table tab

  1. Select the logo in the MindBridge sidebar.
    You will go to the Organizations page.
  2. Select View in line with the desired organization, or click anywhere in the organization row.
    You will go to the Engagements page.
  3. Select View in line with the desired engagement, or click anywhere in the engagement row.
    You will go to the Data page.
  4. Select View Analysis in line with the desired analysis.
    You will go to your default landing page within the analysis.
  5. Go to the Data table tab.

Tip: If you are already in an analysis, open the Analyze menu ( Analyze_menu_icon ) in the sidebar and select the analysis you want to see, then go to the Data table tab.


Create a random or risk stratified sample

Note: If you have an advanced filter applied, samples will be created within the context of the given filter's parameters.
  1. On the Data table dashboard, use the View menu (located above the table on the left side) to select whether you want to create samples from Entries (default) or Transactions.
  2. Open the Actions menu near the top-right of the page.
  3. Select Create sample.
    A pop-up window will appear.
  4. Open the Sampling Method menu and select the method you want to use:
    • Risk Stratified: This sampling method uses risk scores to stratify the data in the data table.
    • Random: This sampling method selects entries or transactions at random from the data table.
  5. Select the Audit area(s) you want to include.
    You can choose as many as you need.
  6. Enter a name for your sample selection.
  7. Select the Assertion(s) for this sample.
  8. Enter the desired Sample size.
    The risk levels below are populated automatically.
  9. Select Generate statistics to see the scope and impact of the current sample.
    A summary of the generated sample appears, as well as a chart showing the total debits and credits in the sample for each risk level.
  10. When you are satisfied, select Add to audit plan.
    All of the entries/transactions generated in the sample can be found in the Audit plan.
