Create an engagement

  • Updated

Summary

Engagements hold all of your imported data, and act as a folder for the analyses you and your team create in MindBridge.

Learn how to:

Create your first engagement

After you create a new organization, you can immediately create the first engagement. However, if you Save and exit during the Create organization step, or Cancel during the Create engagement step, you will go back to the Organizations page.

To create the first engagement within your organization, select View in line with the desired organization, or click anywhere in the organization row. You will be brought to the create engagement workflow.

Create additional engagements

  1. On the Engagements page, select Create engagement. You will go to the Create Engagement page.
  2. Enter the appropriate information as indicated in the create engagement workflow.
  3. If desired, follow the steps in the roll forward or duplicate workflows, as well as the import settings workflow.
Note: Analyses from existing engagements can either be rolled forward OR duplicated.
  4. Once you are satisfied, select Next. The engagement will be created and you will go to the Create analysis page.

Roll an analysis forward from an existing engagement

Once you select a library in the General settings section, you can streamline the data import process by rolling completed analysis data forward into a new engagement.

Using this method, MindBridge automatically creates a new analysis within a new engagement, and imports files from the existing analysis into prior periods in the new analysis.

Data will be rolled forward into the new analysis periods as follows:

Original analysis

New analysis (rolled forward)

Current period

Prior period 1

Prior period 1

Prior period 2

Prior period 2

Prior period 3

Prior period 3

Prior period 4

Prior period 4

Data will not be copied into the new engagement

To roll an analysis forward from an existing engagement:

  1. On the Create Engagement page, enter a unique engagement name.
  2. Select the Library you want to use.
  3. Check the box to the left of Roll forward. Additional menus will appear below.
  4. *Use the Organization menu to select the source organization.
  5. *Use the Engagement menu to select the source engagement**.
  6. Use the checkbox(es) to select one or more analyses to roll forward into the new engagement.
  7. For General ledger analyses, use the toggles to select whether each selected analysis will use an Interim or Full time frame in the new engagement.
Note: If rolled forward, analyses using the Periodic time frame must continue to use that time frame.
  8. Enter the appropriate information in the Engagement planning section, then select Next. The roll forward process will begin. Once it has completed, the analysis will be created and you will be brought to the new engagement's Data page. Files from the previous analysis will populate the prior periods, and the current period will be ready to receive new files. The account grouping and mappings used in the previous analysis will be leveraged to automatically verify the accounts in the new engagement, however once you import new data into the current period, you may have to verify the accounts before running the analysis.

Before selecting Next, you can select Cancel to go back to the Organizations page without rolling forward any analyses.

*Note: If the Roll forward and Import settings features are both selected, they must use the same organization and engagement. If these menus do not appear beneath Roll forward, they were likely selected beneath Import settings.
**Note: The engagement you source from must support the analysis type of the analysis you want to roll forward.

Duplicate analyses from an existing engagement

Duplicate a completed analysis to copy its imported files into a new engagement. These files will go through the import process automatically, but you may have to verify the accounts before running the analysis.

  1. On the Create Engagement page, enter a unique engagement name.
  2. Select the Library you want to use.
  3. Check the box to the left of Duplicate analyses to a new engagement. Additional menus will appear below.
  4. Use the Organization menu to select the source organization.
  5. Use the Engagement menu to select the source engagement*.
  6. Use the checkbox(es) to select which analyses to duplicate into the new engagement.
  7. Enter the appropriate information in the Engagement planning section, then select Next. The duplication process will begin. Once it has completed, the analysis will be created and you will be brought to the engagement's Data page. The duplicated files will populate the same periods as the previous analysis.

Before selecting Next, you can select Cancel to go back to the Organizations page without duplicating any analyses.

*Note: The engagement you source from must support the analysis type of the analysis you want to duplicate.

Import settings from an existing engagement

You can select settings to import from an existing engagement into the engagement you are creating.

  1. On the Create Engagement page, enter a unique engagement name.
  2. Select the Library you want to use.
  3. Check the box next to Import settings.
  4. *Use the Organization menu to select the source organization.
  5. *Use the Engagement menu to select the source engagement.
  6. Use the checkbox(es) to select the settings you want to import per analysis type. Additional details will appear beneath each selection.
  7. When you are satisfied, select Next.
If you are also rolling forward or duplicating an analysis, you will go to the Data page of the new engagement and your files will be present in period(s) determined by your selection.
If you are not rolling forward, you will go to the Create Analysis page, where you will be prompted to create a new analysis.

Before selecting Next, you can select Cancel to go back to the Organizations page without importing any settings into a new engagement.

*Note: If the Roll forward and Import settings features are both selected, they must use the same organization and engagement. If these menus do not appear beneath Import settings, they were likely selected beneath Roll forward.
