Join columns

Summary

During the Map Columns step of the file import process, you can join multiple columns into a single column as desired. Once created, these columns can be mapped to a MindBridge column, or added for additional filtering in the analysis results.

Note: In order to join columns, you must have created an analysis and begun importing files into it.

Join columns

  1. Under Your Data Column Headers, select the more actions icon ( More actions menu icon ) to the right of the column you want to join.
  2. Select Join columns. A form window will appear, and the column you actioned on will be selected automatically in the Your columns section.
  3. Select Add column, located to the right of your selected column. A blank menu will appear.
  4. Use the blank menu to select a second column to join with the first. You can repeat steps 3 and 4 to join as many columns as desired.
  5. Optionally, to delineate the column contents, select the checkbox beside Join by delimiter, then use the menu to select the delimiter you want to use.
    If you do not want to delineate the column contents, they will be joined exactly as they appear in the cells, with no spaces or characters in between.
  6. In the Data preview section, enter a name for the new column in the text box.
  7. When you are satisfied, Save your changes. The new column will appear at the bottom of your column list on the Map Columns step and can be identified by the blue dot in the upper right corner of its name.

Select Cancel any time go go back to the Map Columns step without joining columns.
