FAQ: What is "missing mandatory data"?

  • Updated

Summary

Learn what mandatory data is, and how missing mandatory data can affect your analysis.

Mandatory data in MindBridge

Mandatory data is data that must be included to analyse an entry. Mandatory data can be different for each analysis type, for instance a General Ledger analysis requires each entry have an account ID, effective date, amount/debit & credit, and a transaction ID. If any entry in your data is missing one of these fields, it will not be included in the analysis.

If MindBridge detects your data is missing mandatory data, then it will alert you in the Review step of the ingestion wizard. In the example below, we can see that MindBridge has detected 34 entries that are missing mandatory data. In the details, it shows the total records, ignored records and the missing field count, which specifies which mandatory field is missing. It also shows example entries as a table.

Reviewing missing mandatory data

If MindBridge detects missing mandatory data, it is important to review the affected entries. Any entries with missing mandatory data will not be included in the analysis. This can cause issues with the overall balance of the ledger and account level completeness. Once the entries have been identified, if they do need to be included in the analysis, then any missing mandatory data will need to be filled in by editing your data file.

Once the missing mandatory data has been filled, you will need to import the new file and restart the ingestion process.
