Library settings: Custom control points

  • Updated

Summary

The Custom control points section provides an overview of the control points App Admins have created for your organization based on specific needs and methodologies.

Each library can hold up to 20 custom control points*, which will be available for use in General ledger analyses within engagements using the given library.

Learn how to create and manage custom control points in the library.

*Note: Currently, control point customization is limited to custom Expert Rules and custom 2 Digit Benford; new customization options will become available over time.
Note: Changes made to the Custom control points section within a given library, including control points being created, updated, and/or deleted, will not appear in existing engagements using that library. To see your changes in action, you must create a new engagement (or roll forward or duplicate an analysis into a new engagement). All custom control points in the library you select will be copied into the engagement as they exist at that point in time.

Note: Only App Admins can view and manage these library settings. Learn about user roles

Overview

The Custom control points section provides the following control point details at a glance:

  • Name: The name of the custom control point.
  • Control point type: The base control point that was selected when creating the custom control point.
  • Date modified: When the control point was last updated.
  • Status
    • Draft: The control point can still be edited, renamed, and deleted. Draft control points cannot be added to risk scores.
    • Published: The control point has been finalized and can be added to risk scores. Published control points cannot be edited, but can still be renamed and deleted until they have been added to a risk score.
    • Active: The control point has been finalized, and is in use by a risk score. Active control points cannot be edited, deleted, or renamed.

Global custom control point actions

App Admins can perform the following actions on any custom control point in MindBridge. Review the articles linked below for details on additional control point actions.

Create a control point

Libraries can hold up to 20 custom control points. The process for creating new control points varies based on how they operate, but you can start by selecting Create control point near the top of the screen.

Rename a control point

Control points that are in Draft mode or have been Published can be renamed at any time, however, once they are Active (i.e., they have been added to a risk score), they cannot be renamed.

  1. Open the more actions menu ( More actions menu icon ) in line with the control point you want to rename.
  2. Select Rename. A form window will appear.
  3. Enter a unique Name for the control point.
  4. When you are satisfied, Save your changes. The control point will be renamed and you will go back to the Custom control points section.

Select Cancel anytime to go back to the Custom control points section without saving.

Duplicate a control point

Duplicating a control point lets you create a point-in-time copy that you can modify as desired without affecting the original. You can duplicate control points with any status.

  1. Open the more actions menu ( More actions menu icon ) to the right of the control point you want to duplicate.
  2. Select Duplicate. A form window will appear.
  3. Update the Name and Description of the control point as desired.
Note: For a custom Expert Rules control point, you will be brought to the edit screen where you can make changes to the ruleset. When you are satisfied with the changes, Save your work.
  4. When you are satisfied, Publish the control point to finalize it. The control point will reflect the Published status, and can be applied to risk scores as needed, and you will go back to the Custom control points section.

Select Cancel anytime to go back to the Custom control points section without duplicating the control point.

Tip: Once a control point has been published, it cannot be modified or deleted, but it can be duplicated, and the new version can be edited as desired.

Delete a control point

Control points that are in Draft mode or have been Published can be deleted at any time, however, once they are Active (i.e., they have been added to a risk score), they cannot be deleted.

  1. Open the more actions menu ( More actions menu icon ) in line with the control point you want to delete.
  2. Select Delete. A confirmation window will appear.
  3. To permanently delete the control point, select Delete. The control point will be removed from the library and you will go back to the Custom control points section.

Select Cancel to go back to the Custom control point section without deleting the control point.
