Question
In data, what is an ungrouped format and how is it different from a grouped format?
Answer
Spreadsheet data generally appears in either grouped or ungrouped formats.
- Grouped: The data (numbers, column headers, and accounts) appear over multiple rows throughout the spreadsheet.
- Ungrouped: Each column has data present on every row.
In order to import a file into MindBridge, the data must be in an ungrouped format. If each row of data does not contain every single data point, there is no systematic way for MindBridge to identify where to extract the debit or credit amount for a given row.
