QuickBooks Deskstop/Enterprise Solutions: Export the general ledger

  • Updated

Summary

This guide goes through the step by step process of preparing and exporting a journal report from QuickBooks Desktop.

Notes

It's worth noting that QuickBooks Desktop does provide the option to export a General Ledger, however the output document isn't suitable for ingestion into MindBridge which is why we export the Journal instead.

Extract data

Watch the following video on how to extract data or read the steps outlined below.

Open the video in YouTube for high resolution.

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Desktop/Enterprise Solutions. On the menu bar at the top of the screen, click Reports > Accountant & Taxes > Journal.

If your report exceeds this, please select to export as a comma separated values (.csv) file. Click Export. This will open the file in Excel and you will be able to save a copy in the desired location.
