Account grouping: Overview

  • Updated

Summary

An account grouping is a hierarchical set of categories that MindBridge uses to define accounts and the relationships between them. Creating your own account groupings allows you to align your account groupings with the MindBridge Account Classification (MAC) code system

MAC codes appear over 4 or 5 levels, with each level indicating a higher level of account granularity. For example:

  • Assets (Level 1)
    • Capital assets (Level 2)
      • Building-related (Level 3)
        • Buildings under construction (Level 4)
          • Work in progress (Level 5)

Your account groupings will be displayed across MindBridge, and will also be reflected in the Income Statement and Balance Sheet ratio reports.

Learn how to manage account groupings within MindBridge below.

Note: Account groupings can now be accessed and renamed by users at the engagement level. These label changes will be reflected in all analyses within the engagement for presentation purposes. MindBridge will not re-interpret accounts based on label changes, and will not alter the nature of the accounts (i.e., account types, grouping levels, or associated MAC codes) at the library level.

Go to the Account groupings tab

You must be an App Admin to access account groupings in the Admin section.

  1. Open the sidebar ( Sidebar open-close icon.svg ) from anywhere in MindBridge.
  2. Select Admin ( Admin_icon.svg ) near the bottom of the sidebar.
You will go to the Admin page.
  3. Go to the Account groupings tab.
You will see a list view of all the account groupings available in your tenant.

Manage existing account groupings

  1. Open the Actions menu beside the target account grouping.
  2. Select from the following options:
    • View details – See more information about the account grouping, including the account grouping’s columns, codes, tags, and balances.
    • Append – Add accounts to the end of your grouping. Note that you can add accounts, but you cannot remove them.
    • Export grouping – Export your account grouping as a spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is formatted using the MindBridge Excel template, so it can be appended, adjusted, and re-imported.
    • Rename – Allows you to enter a different name for the account grouping.
    • Archive – Archiving an account grouping will have no impact on existing libraries using the grouping, but archived account groupings will no longer appear as a selectable option when creating a new library.
    • Unarchive – Archived account groupings an be unarchived and returned to an active ready state and used when creating a new library.

  2. Select View details.
  3. Use the chevron icon ( Expand chevron.svg ) to expand and collapse each account level.
  4. Use the grab handle icon ( Move icon ) in line with the account grouping to drag and drop the account grouping anywhere within the same level.
    MindBridge saves your changes automatically.
