General Ledger Export - Sage 50 (Canada)

At the time of this publication, MindBridge supports two specific exports from Sage 50 (CA). (Other exports may be supported in future releases).

MindBridge doesn't support the Chart of Accounts (COA) export from Sage 50 (CA) at this time. MindBridge is capable, however, of inferring your account list from GL or transaction reports.

Starting Off

Open the desired client in Sage 50. You should see a landing page that looks similar to the screenshot below. The names of the options on this page may vary depending on your system language and Sage 50 configuration, but the layout should be familiar. This will be the starting point for the subsequent instructions.

General Ledger Export

  1. From the top bar, click Reports > Financials > General Ledger

Note: Depending on your organization's settings, the labels may be different. Sage 50 (CA) can be configured to use plain English or accounting terminology - but the report should be in the same location as the figure above.

Select the desired accounts for the General Ledger (GL) report. In this example, all accounts are selected. Select the same report options as in the screenshot below, although the sorting of the export does not matter.

The report that is produced should look like this:

Click the Export button, and select you local save location. Under Save as Type, select “Comma separated (*.csv).”

And that’s it, MindBridger can import the produced file! An example file, using the demo Universal Construction company that was used in the above screenshots, is included with this package, to indicate what the file should look like.

All Transactions

The Sage 50 All Transactions report can also be imported by MindBridge and treated as a General Ledger (GL). Given this report can produced for different types of sub-ledgers, this can be an alternative method used to get AP or AR data in a "MindBridge-friendly" format from Sage 50.

From the top bar, click Reports > Journal Entries > All.

Note: Depending on your organization's settings, the labels may be different. Sage 50 (CA) can be configured to use plain English or accounting terminology - but the report should be in the same location as the figure above.

The Report Options dialogue will pop up. The default settings should be correct for an All Transactions report to be exported into MindBridge, although you may limit your export to a specific year if you wish.

The produced report should look like this:

Click the Export button, and select where you would like to save the produced file. Under Save as Type, select Comma separated (*.csv)

The Export Selection window should look like this:

And that’s it, MindBridge can import the produced file into its system.

I would like to see how we can generate GL that shows amounts allocated by project.
